A heavenly road to hell

“My life is brilliant
My love is pure
I drive an angel
Of that I am sure!”

Inspired by James Blunt

Desperately seeking curves in a ridiculously straight mid west America had me seeking bikers in the office and asking them for roads that actually involve drivers staying awake. One such road took me from Ann Arbor along the Huron River towards the township of Dexter. Having arrived at Dexter, I then took Hankerd north up to Doyle and then eventually Hell. I am not really sure why a town would call it self “Hell” but I suppose at least one city in America had to be christened by the town folk in their most inebriated state.

However, as unspectacular the town of Hell was, the road (Hankerd) that led up to Hell was simply stunning. Each turn was addressed by signs politely telling me that suggested speed limit was 15 or 25. However, I flew those turns at thrice that speed. There were esses, tight radius turns and best of them all, turns that change elevation as you went through them. Infact, there was at least one dip, where if you aren’t careful; you could expect the car to leave the ground for a while.

I had read about the TSX’s handling, of how sure footed she felt, and today I certified it. Going up and down this stretch of contentment, I eventually began worrying about locals calling the cops. So I decided to take a break, where, I decided for all that she had done for me today, the least she deserved was an unabashed-not clean the bonnet-kiss.

You almost know when you fall in love. And then, you really know.
