I wish i had asked for her name..

Saturday the 4th of September was the kick off day to this year’s Michigan’s Football season.
Michigan Wolverines, despite being rusty managed to romp over the Miami Hurricanes 43-10. This story however is not about my day at the game but more so; this description is about a girl who made it all possible.
This is will be my last semester at the University of Michigan and thus despite the cost, I wanted to see a foot ball game at the stadium (one of the largest in the country) before I graduate. Armed with a lot of enthusiasm, a 20 dollar bill but no ticket in hand, my friends and I started our walk from the campus to the stadium.
We were told that usually there are people out side the stadium and along the way that are quite eager to sell some extra tickets. Being late as Indians are, we could not find any one who was selling tickets. We spotted a few, but they did not have student tickets and we did not want to sit away from our friends (having tickets) in the student section…
Slowly the four of us, wandered through and reached the gate of the stadium without a ticket in sight. Seeing people, we too raised our hands with the no of fingers extending out indicating the number of tickets needed.
Looking like colored cricket umpires, the four of us suddenly realized that there were lots like us with their hands raised. It seemed that we would not gets a ticket and slowly we mentally prepared to walk back to our houses to watch the game on TV.
I now was finding it difficult to even hold my hand up and cheated using the other hand to help. When suddenly, a girl walked through the crowd which almost disappeared like separating seas, and saw me in the eye and asked,
“Do you have a student id?”
“Yes, I do!” I said, exclaimed even.
“Here you go…” she handed me a yellow student ticket.
I could not believe my luck at this point to get a ticket.
“How much do want for this?” I asked reaching for my wallet.
“Just keep it…!” and just like that she went away almost dissolving in the crowd.

I stared at the free ticket I had been handed. I looked up. She was gone. I don’t think she heard my thank you.

I called up my friends who were already inside and asked them where they were. It turned out that my ticket was in the same section as they were. I now just stumbled through the line to my seat in a complete daze and the faintest of smiles. I should have been jumping around and screaming about my luck but this was just more than that…

I now regret that I did not ask for her name. I wish I could just take her out for making my day. But for now, whoever you are and wherever you are… Thank you!
