Foursome

I have been watching formula one for a while now and I can’t recall the last time when I saw four possible contenders for the championship.

I realize that one race cannot be indicative of the entire season, but if you followed the winter testing, you would know that these four teams have been consistently fast.

The Renault, with their one year poster boy, Alonso has won the first race fair and square. Not only is the car quick but Alonso seems to have a stable head on his shoulders. Kimi with his McLaren Mercedes has just shown what he is capable off. Coming from 22 on a full fuel load and ending 3 on the podium is an incredible feat. I cannot imagine what havoc he would have created, had he started up on the grid. And surprise surprise, Honda managed leaves a mark! The Japanese might lack the passion and history of motor racing but their clinical precision in engineering in enough to teach the bad boys of F1 some serious lessons.

Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari came in second. While that is a vast improvement on last year’s debacle, I am afraid Ferrari has their work cut out. Yes, the car is quick and lasted the whole race with no fuss, but Renault and McLaren both seem faster. The odds are stacked against the great one.

But like all champions this is exactly what Michael needs.

Go Michael, Go Ferrari!
