The Red Chaos

Dude, You just won the Championship! How about a smile now?

It was an exemplary display of chaos theory at its finest.

Going into the finale at Brazil with a three way battle for the driver’s championship, Kimi Raikkonen had the least chance of pulling it off. Not only did he have to win but also had to have Hamilton finish no better than 6th. Hamilton, he of the consistent podium finisher fame only had to do that much. That in car that rarely faltered all season…

However his glaring mistake in China where he needlessly raced with Kimi on balding tires convinced me that despite his stellar achievements and his disgustingly smug grin, he was only a rookie. Only a rookie…

So many things had to click in place for Kimi and more importantly Ferrari to win the Championship today. And like falling of the chaotic edge, it all started to come together. Massa and Kimi made a clean break. Alonso went past Hamilton. Hamilton’s swollen pride could not handle such a movie so he tried to re pass Alonso and only managed to go off track to come back in the eighth position. And then like clockwork, for all the Ferrari Fans, his electronics give way and also his dreams of being first rookie ever to win the World Championship.

Clearly, Hamilton could not see the bigger picture. Not in China and not in Brazil. And at the end, the driver with the most wins of the season won the Championship.

Being a fan through the thick and thin, a season full of ups and downs, through 17 weekends, and tolerating Hamilton’s smug gap toothed grin in all podiums, is now completely worth it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, You 2007 Formula 1 Driver World Champion – Kimi Raikkonen and your 2007 F1 Constructors, Scuderia Ferrari.

  • Priya: Yes! Especially after Schumacher had to go, I was left reeling. Seeing Hamilton win would have been the fatal blow.

Finally BBC News will start covering world events again.

US: Heheh, Congratulations to you too

  • And trust this battle to not end yet. Have you read about the appeal that McLaren is going to file?? I would hate to see this C’ship taken away from Kimi like that (this, watever the case might be). And frankly this year, its not fair that a McLaren driver wins the Championship. Not in a car that’s half Ferrari anyways.
